Our commitment to training the next generation..
The UK government has made a significant commitment to address the ongoing housing crisis by pledging to build 1.5 million homes by 2028. This ambitious plan aims to increase the availability of affordable housing, thereby providing much-needed shelter for families across the nation. We recognise the demand for Labour within the Industry and are committed to training the next generation of Carpenters, who will in turn help us to expand our Output and keep delivering results for our Clients. We ensure our Apprentices learn the full spectrum of site Carpentry, spending their time equally between different build stages.

At SD & Sons Carpentry, we recognise the pressing need to address the skills gap in the construction industry, particularly in the realm of carpentry. Our commitment to training apprentices stems from a dedication to sustaining the workforce of the future. By investing in the next generation, we not only equip them with essential skills but also ensure the longevity and quality of our projects. Our apprenticeship programme is designed to provide hands-on experience and comprehensive training, fostering a skilled labour pool that will contribute to the continued success of new build housing developments. Through this initiative, we aim to empower young talent and secure the future of Carpentry in our industry.
We work in collaboration with Milton Keynes College, aiming to take on 2 new Apprentices yearly in order to expand our workforce while also bringing new Labour into the industry. Apprenticeships offer several advantages over hiring established carpenters, we can ensure that we teach our Apprentices our Standards and needs for quality from the outset, leading to better results for our clients. We ensure our Apprentices learn all build stages of Carpentry, this way once qualified they are capable of carrying out any task given to them, this allows us to be versatile with our Labour when required to be.
